Pilates
Developed by Joseph Pilates over many years by drawing on a variety of fitness regimes used to improve his own body, the Pilates Method was then discovered by the elite from the world of sport and the performing arts. They found that Pilates’ approach complemented their own specific training, building strength without bulk, balancing strength with flexibility and achieving harmony between mind and body.
Whilst the principles of alignment, core stability, stamina and flow remain the same regardless of the level, many of the original, complex exercises have been broken down into manageable stages and applied to everyday, functional movements.
A wide range of small equipment and the original studio equipment developed by Joseph Pilates can also be used to add variety and challenge, or to assist in a rehabilitation environment.
